CHURCH RECORDING 

ESDFAS Church recorders are currently working on the

record of All Saints' Church in Sudbourne. 

 

Making the Record….

The work is typically done in teams of two or three people usually 

meeting for a couple of hours weekly or monthly. The Record is

divided into the following nine sections, Memorials, Metalwork,

Stonework, Woodwork, Textiles, Paintings, Library, Windows and

Miscellaneous. The information, together with illustrations, is then

compiled according to an established format.  

Finally …..

Five copies of the completed Record are produced for distribution

to the: 

      ·     Parish of the church concerned

• Diocese (for forwarding to the local  County Record Office)
  
  
• Victoria & Albert Museum
  
  
• National Monuments Centre
  
  
• Library of the Cathedrals and Church Buildings Division. 

 

 Is Church recording for you?

We would welcome anyone who is interested in joining the current team; previous experience is not essential.

Training and support are provided and there are knowledgeable and skilled people in the team to offer guidance.
